Potluck at 475

So we dropped by 475 Kent last weekend for a potluck dinner. Say of this building what you will, but I feel like celebrating it today. Why? Living in an illegal loft building is so New York. Especially when said loft is on the water with a view from the roof of no less than seven bridges (the Verrazano, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Willy-B, Queensboro, Tri-Borough and the fucking Whitestone!). Not to mention the exquisite architectural details. Let's have a look.

This is a detail of the stair that leads to the roof. Its splits symetrically and I think that's super cool. I apologize for the out-of-focusness of this shot. I only took one.

This stair can only be described as undulous.
Holy shit, is that baulestrade floating? Like how that concrete sensuouly wraps itself around the baulestrade to make you think it is defying gravity?

There's actually a lot more sweet details in the apartments, such as the octagonal concrete columns, but it's kind of lost in all the illegal construction.

Downtown.
The Northside.

God bless 475.
